VTL started as a make-to-print machining business. A significant renewal investment programme together with a well developed Total Productive Maintenance system ensure that machines are of the highest quality and are kept in optimal condition.
Depending on customer requirements, we can adapt current machining capability or invest in bespoke equipment for individual production cells.

The majority of our turning capacity is focused on high volume production. In addition to this, we have invested in state of the art Swiss lathes to enable smaller batch production. We have multiple set-up options within our machine portfolio:
Single and twin spindle machines
Vertical and horizontal spindles
Fixed and live tooling
Conventional and counterbalanced / compensating chucks
Our experience for volume production set-up has led to extensive use of sister tooling and on-machine verification via probing and laser detection equipment. This leads to a high level of repeatability and accuracy.
Additionally, we have equipment for prototype development and have our own tooling manufacture capability.
We offer a full complement of vertical and horizontal CNC milling capability. Included within this capacity are options for fixed or twin pallet and, furthermore, we can offer either single or twin spindle machining. As with turning, our experience for volume production set-up has led to extensive use of sister tooling and on-machine verification via probing and laser detection equipment. All of these enhancements lead us to deliver an improved and highly capable process. Additionally, we have 5-axis machining capability operated on a ‘lights out’ basis, again equipped with on-machine verification.
Across the VTL Group, we have extensive grinding capability including centreless, centred, surface, cylindrical and creep-feed grinding. Many of our machines incorporate in-process gauging. We can work on single or multiple diameter components with significant automation and accuracy to ensure surface finish excellence.
For geometrically complex or hard material parts which are difficult to machine with conventional machining processes, we offer EDM servcies as part of our portfolio, and have the latest in EDM sinking and wire erosion capability.
