Overview of the Role
VTL Apprentice Talent Programme
We are currently recruiting for 2 manufacturing engineering apprentices to join us on the VTL Apprentice Talent Programme.
The apprenticeship will be 3 years in duration and you will work towards an Advanced Apprenticeship in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering through a local training provider. The apprenticeship will provide the individual the opportunity to obtain the skills and experience required to become a competent Engineering Technician on successful completion*. Further opportunities for training and development will be agreed on successful completion of the apprenticeship.
Apprentices will be work shadowing in their 1st year, gaining machining and toolmaking knowledge and assisting Technicians on the shopfloor. You can expect a dedicated programme when you join us at VTL, with key expectations and specific development points defined throughout each level of the programme. We offer all apprentices an individual 1-1 progress review on a monthly basis to discuss their progress and development needs. As part of the programme, apprentices will be expected to develop a portfolio of learning to evidence their progress with individual job write-ups, reflective activities, workbooks and learning logs.
*Please note that VTL cannot guarantee a permanent position at the end of the apprenticeship programme, however we do actively look to our apprentices as a succession plan for key engineering positions.

You should have a good understanding of what a career in manufacturing/engineering offers and a basic knowledge of manufacturing/production activities. We are looking for apprentices that can demonstrate enthusiasm, a drive to develop, and the motivation to succeed. You will need to be able to work well as part of a team, communicate effectively, and take ownership where needed.
